Leaning In

When you’re close to a breakthrough in your work, standing at the edge of an entirely new continent you’ve only dared imagine before, do you lean in?

Do you push on and let yourself discover the glories that await?

Or do you shy away, back off, afraid?

When your art challenges you, when it hauls up mighty demons of your past and spreads their ugly ashes before you, do you lean in?

Do you push through, leaving them behind?

Or do you shy away, back off, afraid?

Lean in.

Embrace these opportunities to evolve, and let go.

  1. This might make a good survey question. I would have thought that when one is recognizably breaking through, most people would pause for a moment of reflection and then lean in. It is sometime before that point of obvious breakthrough, when the going still seems hard, that I would have thought too many people might give up.

  2. This was a great reminder today… I had a bit of a creative breakthrough at the weekend. Some serious studio time creating & weaving enchantments helped let go of a block. I don’t want to be shy or afraid anymore. :o)
