In my tai chi class last night, during a warm up where we place all our weight on one leg while rotating the hip of the other, I realised that as soon as I shifted my weight, I tensed my shoulders.
My teacher suggested this was great awareness. Now I know I’m tensing my shoulders, I have the choice next time whether to continue to tense them, or relax them.
Awareness gives us freedom.
